Vaccinations
Vaccinations are an important part of any preventative medicine strategy, regardless of age. Even in those instances when vaccines fail to provide complete prevention, they lessen the severity of the disease. Vaccines have proven effective over years of use. If you want to stay well, make sure to keep your vaccinations up-to-date.
If you have any questions regarding vaccinations, our staff will be happy to inform you about the benefits and risks. Our goal is to always provide you with the knowledge you need to make sound decisions regarding your health and wellbeing. Call our offices to schedule an appointment.
Among the vaccinations you can receive at Total Family Health are the following:
Annual Influenza (Flu Shot). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine every year. Because it takes two weeks for your body’s immune system to respond fully after you are vaccinated, the CDC advises getting your flu vaccine by the end of October. That way you will be protected once the flu season hits your community. Of course, you can get a flu shot at any time throughout the flu season.

Travel. The CDC suggests that you schedule an appointment four to six weeks before you plan to leave the country to update routine vaccinations and receive vaccinations for the specific countries you will visit. The CDC Travel Health site provides a list of appropriate vaccinations for all parts of the world. Do plan ahead – some vaccines require more than one dose, and you want the vaccines to be working before you leave. If you have any questions, we can help you determine the correct vaccines you will need.
Tuberculosis (TB): A TB skin test requires a two-part visit within 72 hours. A TB Blood test requires just one visit.
Pneumococcal Vaccination: The CDC recommends pneumococcal vaccination for all adults 65 years or older, as well as babies under 2 years old.
