Total Family Healthcare provides physicals for every member of your family and for every purpose. Your annual physical provides a snapshot of your health and can alert your care provider to changes that should be monitored. Your student athlete can get a physical before the start of a new sports season. Your spouse can receive physicals for new employment or a CDL medical card.
The Annual Check-up
You would never go longer than a year before taking your car in for a check-up. At the very least you know you need to change the oil. You also know that If you don’t, a small problem can become a large problem. So do for yourself what you would do for your vehicle!
Physicals are more than a mere formality. And while not all physicals are identical, in general, they cover the same basics that provide a picture of your health. Here’s what you can expect:
Medical History. This is your chance to mention any complaints or concerns you have about your health. We’ll ask some questions. We’ll check on your vaccination status and update your personal and family medical history.
Vital Signs. We’ll measure your height and weight. We’ll take your blood pressure. We’ll listen to your heart and lungs. We’ll take your temperature.
Poking and Prodding. We’ll check reflexes and ask you to open your mouth and say “ah!” We check your eyes, ears, and nose. The poking and prodding reveal such things as tender spots that might need further examination.
You know the drill of a physical exam – we check you over head-to-toe and then we send you to the lab. We keep tabs on blood counts, cholesterol levels, and whatever else your health history suggests needs monitoring.
Quit thinking of physicals as a care provider’s favorite method of shaming you or finding fault with your health. The annual physical exam is a great opportunity to refocus your attention on prevention.
